Patient Assistance Programs

Patient assistance programs are programs set up by drug companies that offer free or low cost drugs to individuals who are unable to pay for their medication. Most commonly prescribed medications, especially brand name medications, are available through these programs. Each program has different eligibility and application requirements. Once an application is filled out and submitted to the company, the drug company will decide whether the patient is eligible to receive the medication for free or at a reduced cost. If the patient is eligible, the medication may be sent to the patient's home, the physician's office or a local pharmacy depending on the program.

The case managers at MassMedLine can review a patient’s information to screen which patient assistance programs they may be eligible for.  We then will send out the appropriate applications and provide directions on how to complete the application forms. In addition, many of these application forms require the signature of a prescribing physician. MassMedLine can work with the physician’s office to ensure that the application gets completed.
